The Garden at the Green
The club’s garden is a regular talking point in the local community. It’s not uncommon to see passers-by on Partickhill Road stop to admire the flower and shrub borders surrounding the green. The garden always looks so good because of the dedication of our garden volunteers led by Fiona Robertson and Moira Wadsworth.
The garden team meets most Tuesday afternoons from 2 pm to 4 pm. New volunteers will be made very welcome. You don’t have to be an expert gardener, though we’d be delighted to recruit folk who know about pruning roses and fruit trees. As the bowling season comes to an end, the team will be following a programme of winter maintenance work, readying the garden for next spring. Meanwhile, another group of club volunteers will open the gate on Partickhill Road in the morning – and close when light fades – to allow members and non-members to enjoy a peaceful seat or stroll in the garden.
